Silver Jubilee Celebrations for Fr Julian

Approximately 800 family, friends , past and present parishioners and well-wishers joined in a celebration Mass and presentation for Fr. Julian Langridge's Silver Jubilee at St. Patrick's Community Centre on 15 August.

Among those present were parishioners of Fr. Julian's two parishes, Lilydale and Healesville, parishioners of parishes in which Fr. Julian had served previously, including Drysdale, St. Albans, Mooroolbark, and Yarra Junction; members of the deaf community; previous staff of St. Vincent's Hospital; and representatives of St. Patrick's and St. Brigid's Primary Schools and Mt. Lilydale Mercy College.

Bishop Hilton Deakin preached the homily, relating it to the different ministries that Fr. Julian had had over the years.  Music for the celebration was presented by Fr. Julian's family, the youth of the parishes and the choirs from Healesville and Lilydale.  Fr. Julian's brother Adrian, along with the choirs, sang the song that Adrian wrote for Fr Julians ordination 25 years ago.  The Kiribati Community, through traditional and cultural dance, processed the Gospel Book to Fr. Julian for him to proclaim.

After Mass the community showed their appreciation for Fr. Julian's ministry through speeches and presentations. One of the tools that Fr. Julian uses in his ministry is a puppet named Fr. Duck.  He was represented by 79 year old parishioner and long-time volunteer secretary at Lilydale, Kath Camilleri, who surprised everyone by emerging from a 'cake' dressed as a duck.
